Frequently asked questions
If your question is not here, ask us directly — we would rather answer it before you enrol than after.
Ask a questionGetting started
What age can my child start?
Our minis class starts at age 4, and most children who start with us are 6 or older. There is no upper limit — several competitive athletes train with us into their late teens.
Do I need experience to join a class?
None at all. A meaningful share of every beginner class is made up of children trying gymnastics for the first time.
How do I book a trial class?
Use the contact form on this site, or call the studio during opening hours. We will confirm a time and tell you which coach is taking the class.
What should my child bring?
Comfortable clothing they can move in, hair secured, and a water bottle. Dance: fitted clothing and appropriate shoes. Everything else is provided.
Training & levels
How do you decide what level my child is?
After a trial class the coach watches your child move and places them, then explains the reasoning. We would rather tell you why than hand you a level and wish you luck.
How do I know if my child is ready to compete?
You will not have to guess. Coaches score against the level progression, and we raise competition at the end-of-term family meeting rather than by email.
Can we switch between gymnastics and dance?
Yes, subject to capacity, and usually at a term boundary. Ballet-to-jazz and gymnastics-to-dance moves are common around age 11.
How much practice is expected outside class?
Competitive athletes should practise at home two to three times a week. Recreation and intermediate classes need no home practice at all — that is the difference between the lanes.
Fees & billing
Is there a contract or enrolment fee?
Neither. Tuition is month to month and there is no enrolment fee. The only commitment is the twelve-week term for the level your child is placed in.
What is your cancellation policy?
Thirty days' notice by email, effective at the end of the current month. Please tell us early rather than quietly stopping.
Do you offer financial aid?
Yes — a portion of each term is subsidised through our community fund, handled confidentially by the academy admin. Ask and we will send the form.
Safety & injuries
Are your coaches certified?
Every coach holds a current safety certification and a background check renewed on a two-year cycle, plus a per-term safeguarding refresher on spotting and injury recognition.
What happens if my child is injured?
Attendance is recorded per session and an injury triggers an automatic alert to you and the academy admin. Documented injury absences are credited for the rest of the term.
How large are the classes?
Competitive-to-coach ratio is capped at 1:8. Recreation classes are capped at 10 to 18 depending on level. No class ever runs without a certified coach present.
